In order to protect the freshness and excellent nutrients present in the deep-sea sharks, the livers are removed from the sharks on the same boat they are caught with, and they are kept frozen onboard the ship until it arrives at port. They are then sent to a factory, where the shark liver oil is carefully extracted. Quality deep-sea shark liver oil contains a variety of nutrients, including squalene, alkyl glycerol, DHA, and EPA.
